Rap Parodies by the CC

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

Lately, two of the songs I have performed and written have been getting a lot of attention. I wrote a song with some friends of mine back in high school called “Green Green Pinto” that is a parody of Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby”. This song has been performed a number of times by myself, and from what I hear, my friend Matt Graves performed the song at Fat Jack’s on Tuesday night during Karaoke. I have performed this song more times than I care to remember…

In late 2005 I wrote and recorded a song that was a parody of Mike Jones’ (Slim Thug and Paul Wall too) “Still Tippin’”. My song is called “Still Eatin‘” and, you can guess it, it makes fun of my recent weight gain and love for stuffing food in my face! The younger crowd seems to enjoy this one more than the “Green Green Pinto” but I think it is just because they don’t know who Vanilla Ice is… :)

Anyway, I have the rough recordings available for download on the old and neglected Old School Players web site under the download section. You can also get them directly by using the links for the song titles in the above paragraphs.

Until next time…

New Tool CD

Wednesday, May 3rd, 2006

One of my favorite blogs just posted a review of the new Tool CD, which, as he mentioned, is only 10 bucks at Best Buy right now.

I haven’t listened to the album yet but I definitely plan on buying it during lunch today, along with the new Godsmack album, IV.

According to the Best Buy ad, Tool’s other albums, Lateralus and Aenima, are also 10 bucks each.

Here is the link to dmiessler’s review: http://dmiessler.com/archives/760

Someone posted a really good writeup about the album on the Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10%2C000_days

I can’t wait to see the artwork inlcuded with the album. Here’s what’s posted on the Wikipedia:

Artwork

Alex Grey did the art for 2001’s Lateralus as well as 10,000 Days. The album artwork for 10,000 Days consists of a thick cardboard digipack with a pair of stereoscopic eyepieces on one end, which are used to view the album artwork. It includes mock-up photos of each band member as well as artwork by Alex Grey and other similar art. Viewing the images through the eyepiece causes the images to appear three-dimensional. The lyrics are unprinted. The cover contains an adaptation of the artwork “Net of Being” by Alex Grey.

Beatboxer Entertainment

Monday, April 3rd, 2006

When I stumbled upon this site this evening I knew I had something special! How many average admins out there can appreciate a good “beatboxer” when you hear one?! The site is http://www.beatboxerent.net/ and has a lot of videos featuring different individuals, including Doug E. Fresh, performing the beatbox!

This site is definitely worth a look! The site acts to promote the art of human beatboxing by hosting these different videos and allows beatboxers out there to promote their gigs on the site as well. Very cool! These guys are very talented. Some can even beatbox and hum/sing/whatever melodies! Nice!

Check this one out for sure!
