I like Music
Those of you that know me know that I have a huge music fetish. I LOVE listening to new (previously unheard by me) stuff.
With that in mind, I’ve recently ran across some new stuff which I want to share with you.
First in line is Heavy Metal.
Daniel Miessler recently posted an entry on the bands he thinks are “the best metal bands of all time”.
In that list, he mentions a band I’ve never heard of called Lamb of God. I checked iTunes and they have quite a few albums so I asked Daniel which songs he recommended. I noticed that Redneck was the most popular on iTunes so I got it. Then Daniel emailed me back with a few more to check out which I haven’t had the time to yet, but I will very soon.
This was his reply (with a piece of my comment mixed in):

Attack yourself. I’ll tell you when to stop.
Seriously, LoG is some of the sickest metal ever. As per your other email, I suggest:
The Faded Line
Vigil
The Subtle Arts of Murder and Persuasion…to get you going. There is so much sick music of theirs, but these three will get you started.
Ok, those three are are now on my iPod (The Faded Line is currently playing) and if I have the same taste in music as Daniel, then I might have to get the rest of them. Stay tuned.
Next up is Rap / Hip-Hop.
Lupe Fiasco released a mixtape last year titled “Fahrenheit 1/15 Part II: Revenge of the Nerds”
It took a lot of Googling to find this and I’m glad I did. This album rocks! You can find it here.
Finally, is Nerdcore.
I’m a huge nerdcore fan. I don’t know why, most of the songs aren’t professionally recorded nor are the lyrics as tight as you would find on, say, a Lupe Fiasco album, but something about it just grabs me.
There are always new nerdcore songs being released, some of which I don’t keep, but a lot of them I do.

That’s pretty much it for “a lot of songs at once” releases.
One thing to note about Nerdcore is that most songs have EXPLICIT lyrics. Don’t let your young kids listen to it. However, on that note, one of YTCrackers BEST albums is 100% bad word free. MC Frontalot: Personally, I like his older music better than some of his new stuff.
Metamystiks Inc. DJ Snyder is part of this crew and his stuff is just plain wicked. I don’t have a website for them but you can find their music on the RhymeTorrents forums. Search for Metamystiks, Super Dragon X, or DJ Snyder (I think PC Speaker is part of this group, too). Some of my favorite songs are “Jack Was Right”, “Warriors”, and “The Shelton With Sunspots”.
Zealous1: This guy puts out some professional sounding stuff. His newest album, Collaboc1de, is a must-have.
Emergency Pizza Party (EPP). This is a group of Nerdcore artists that put a lot of humor into their songs. you can tell these guys have a lot of fun. Search for “Glutton” on the RT forums.
A lot of the songs I have are singles I’ve grabbed from a number of different places. If you’re interested in them after hearing some of the above songs, leave a comment and I’ll see what I can do. According to iTunes, I have 680 songs (2.80 Gigs) of Nerdcore!
